What this is for

The Value tracker in Velstrian Buy helps a buying organisation keep sight of the value a contract is actually delivering after award, not just what was promised in the bid. It is built with finance in mind, so a chief finance officer or a budget holder can see delivered value in one place. This matters for both public spending, where value for money must be shown, and private budgets.

Step by step

  1. Open Velstrian Buy.
  2. Open Reporting, then its Value tracker tab.
  3. Review the totals and the items waiting for a finance decision.
  4. Work through the queue, confirming or questioning each item as your process requires.

How the figures are kept honest

The tracker is deliberately careful with its numbers. The finance totals it shows are kept separate and are not quietly recombined into a single headline figure, so a reader always knows which total they are looking at. This keeps a delivered value figure from being confused with a forecast or a target.

What happens next

Confirmed value becomes part of the record you can show at a budget review or an audit. Used alongside scorecards and reviews, the Value tracker turns a promise made at bid time into evidence of what the contract delivered.

Why it is kept separate from the bid

Value promised in a bid and value actually delivered are two different things, and treating them as the same is how a contract quietly underperforms without anyone noticing. The Value tracker keeps the delivered figure distinct, so a confident claim made at bid time is checked against what really happened. A finance queue puts the confirming step with the person who owns the budget, rather than leaving it to whoever happened to run the contract, which keeps the sign off honest.

Common problems

The screen is not available: the Value tracker is a Velstrian Buy feature, so access depends on your product entitlement, and if it is not granted you are returned to the Velstrian Buy area. Two totals do not add up to one number: that is on purpose, because the tracker keeps those totals apart rather than merging them. An item is stuck in the queue: it is waiting for a finance decision, so it stays there until someone with that responsibility confirms or questions it.
